Unwanted Horse Coalition's Operation Gelding Clinics Continue
The Unwanted Horse Coalition's (UHC) Operation Gelding program continues to enjoy success as participation has spread across the United States. The program is designed to offer funding assistance to organizations, associations, and events that wish to conduct a public gelding clinic under the name and guidelines of Operation Gelding.

Equine Rescue Facilities Survey
A group of Cazenovia College seniors are seeking to complete their senior thesis on the topic of equine rescue facilities. The project is designed to collect data about the effectiveness of the various modes of advertisement used by equine rescue facilities, via a brief 10 question survey. This survey is geared to gauge the general public’s perception of equine rescue facilities and to obtain a general understanding of how the public views the effectiveness of advertising for an equine rescue facility. Prior experience/knowledge regarding equine rescue facilities is NOT required.

Oregon's Horses Feel the Sting of Recession
Lingering economic woes, smacking Oregon with an unemployment rate of at least 10.5 percent for nearly a year, have taken a toll on horses. The marketplace is flooded, with owners often unable even to give them away. Rescues are overflowing. Owners, struggling to make ends meet, have cut back on feed, dumped horses in forest areas or dropped them at boarding facilities and disappeared.

Innovative Equine Assistance Program Founded in Georgia
An innovative new organization has been founded to assist horse owners who need help providing feed for their animals. Stamp Out Starvation (SOS) of Horses was founded in October by a group of Georgia equestrians who were all too familiar with assisting malnourished and mistreated horses.

Free Gelding Clinic to be Held at the Kentucky Horse Park
In an effort to help reduce the number of unwanted and inconvenient horses being bred in Kentucky, the Kentucky Horse Park is hosting its first Free Gelding Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Two Operation Gelding Clinics to be Held in Kansas in December
Operation Gelding, a program that is supported by the Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC), has awarded grants to two area horse rescues to hold gelding clinics in early December. The purpose, similar to spay/neuter programs through shelters and other organizations, is to reduce the number of horses that wind up in rescues or sent to slaughter in Canada and Mexico as this is a particularly cruel and inhumane way to end a horse's life after it has given years of service to its human owner.

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) announced today that it has launched a new website. The new website features easily navigable menu options and clearly defined user pages. The new site debuts in time for TCA’s 21st Annual Stallion Season Auction and will feature a listing of all available stallion seasons offered.
